The latest findings from the MGM Advantage Annuity Index, which tracks the income paid on enhanced and conventional annuities on a quarterly basis, reveal that in the three months between December 2010 and March 2011 the average conventional rate rose by 6.14 per cent while the average enhanced rate increased by 3.99 per cent.

This means that average overall annuity rates have returned to levels of 12 months ago.

Those in retirement could be living longer with an ever diminishing pot of money due to a rising cost of living.  The need to shop around is still imperative.
